I have always been an active person, but when I started feeling the pain in my low back and leg I didn’t even know what to think. I continued on with my normal activities, but the pain just seemed to progress. I was unable to stand or walk for any period of time and I couldn’t even get in and out of my own bed! As the owner of an automotive shop I was unable to take care of my shop like I usually did. My son had to help me run my business; I could barely even go to the shop. At home I loved to exercise and do my woodworking. I had so many projects in mind and I couldn’t even start any of them. I went to my regular doctor to get some relief, but all he could offer me were pain pills. I did take the medication he prescribed to me but I didn’t feel any change in my pain level. About one year ago I began to feel some pain in my low back. It began as a mild tolerable pain, so I imagined it would go away. Then one day I felt the pain radiate down to my right hip. In 1999, I started having severe lower back pain and right leg pain. It became so severe that I would even experience a periodic loss of leg control.
